Located in Southwest Florida, our mission at LIFEWORKS! is to provide comprehensive programs that promote health, personal growth and to treat and prevent substance abuse related disease and disabilities.

It is our commitment to offer efficient and effective access to necessary treatment and ancillary patient support systems in a cost effective and accountable manner, resulting in improved client functioning, higher client satisfaction, and better client outcomes for all clients.

Our clients will receive compassionate, affordable and quality treatment for Alcohol and or Substance Abuse related issues. Treatment will be provided by experienced, results oriented professionals with a track record of positive client outcomes. Our State of Florida Department of Children and Families licensed programs will offer Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient services.

Clients in our Intensive Outpatient program will also be offered living accommodations while in treatment. Ancillary services will also be offered including, but not limited to, Personal Development, Family Counseling, Health and Wellness.

Life Works! teaches skills and tools to help clients get and stay clean and sober. With continued care and support, clients reduce the chances of relapse by recognizing their internal and external triggers and the stages that lead to relapse. We offer person-centered, individualized treatment plans, so the client can receive the services needed and at a lower level of care so they can maintain their current employment.

Outpatient Program Treatment designed to meet the needs of individuals who suffer from a substance use disorder and would like weekly counseling, but don’t need Intensive Outpatient or Residential care. The program provides one on one counseling weekly and weekly group meetings in a supportive group setting. Participants attend for four to twelve weeks.

This level of care is appropriate for those who have moderate to severe alcohol and or substance abuse issues and those who are experiencing high stress life circumstances that make it more difficult to cope with urges and cravings to use substances. Abstaining from alcohol and drug use is just the beginning of the healing and recovery process.

Services include:

• Intake assessment and evaluation
• Individualized plan of care
• Group therapy
• Individual therapy (one on one counseling)
• Family involvement
• Continuing care planning and referral

The Outpatient program is for those individuals who are able and willing to commit to a structured program that requires regular attendance and active participation. We understand that each person in this program comes with very diverse issues and problems. We are sensitive to everyone’s needs, personality, communication style, readiness to change and personal preferences. We will work with you to develop a treatment plan that takes into consideration these preferences within the structure and guidelines of the intensive outpatient treatment program.

We also offer DUI required outpatient treatment.

Outpatient treatment may be a good option if:
You can’t or don’t want to quit work or take a leave of absence.
You want to be close to loved ones.
You can stay away from drugs or alcohol where you live.
Inpatient treatment is too expensive.

For Outpatient treatment to work well for you, it’s important to go to your sessions regularly and also get other support, such as Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings. Having support from loved ones, good transportation, and a stable place to live also are important.

Whether you get Intensive Outpatient or Outpatient treatment, it’s important to stay committed to a drug-free or sober lifestyle. With treatment, you can make healthy changes and keep drugs or alcohol out of your life.

The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed to meet the needs of individuals who suffer from a substance use disorder and need more than weekly counseling, but don’t need residential care. The program provides monitoring several times a week in a supportive group setting.

The group meets three days a week mornings or afternoon for three hours. Participants attend for four to twelve weeks.

This level of care is appropriate for those who have moderate to severe alcohol and or substance abuse issues requiring monitoring and stabilization, those who are experiencing high stress life circumstances that make it more difficult to cope with urges and cravings to use substances, and those who have not been able to stabilize their substance use in a traditional outpatient setting. Services include:

• Intake assessment and evaluation
• Individualized plan of care
• Group therapy
• Individual therapy (one on one counseling)
• Family involvement
• Continuing care planning and referral

Conducted in Intensive Outpatient Treatment

Psycho educational groups:
These groups provide a supportive environment in which clients learn about substance dependence and its consequences. These time-limited groups may be initiated at the beginning of treatment.

They feature:
• Low-key rather than emotionally intense environment.
• Rational problem solving mechanisms to alter dysfunctional beliefs and thinking patterns.
• Various forms of relapse prevention and skills training. Didactic components often are supplemented by videos or slides to accommodate different learning styles.

Skills-development groups:
These groups offer clients the opportunity to practice specific behaviors in the safety of the treatment setting. Common types of skills training include:
• Drug or alcohol refusal training. Clients act out scenarios in which they are invited to use substances and roles play their responses.
• Relapse prevention techniques. Using relapse prevention materials, clients analyze one another’s personal triggers and high-risk situations for substance use and determine ways to manage or avoid them.
• Assertiveness training. Clients learn the differences among assertive, aggressive, and passive behaviors and practice being assertive in different situations.
• Stress management. Clients identify situations that cause stress and learn a variety of techniques to respond to stress.

Support groups (e.g., process-oriented recovery groups)

Members focus on immediate issues and on:
• Pragmatic ways to change negative thinking, emotions, and behavior
• Tolerating or resolving conflict without resorting to violence or substance use

These groups include clients in the same recovery stage—usually a middle to late phase of treatment—who are working on similar problems.

• Looking at how members’ actions affect others and the function of the group
Interpersonal process groups
• Single-interest groups. These groups—usually organized at a later stage of treatment—focus on an issue of particular significance to and sensitivity for group members. The issues include gender issues, sexual orientation, criminal offense, and histories of physical and sexual abuse.
• Family or couples groups. These groups assist clients’ relatives and other significant individuals in learning about the detrimental effects of substance use on relationships and how these effects can be ameliorated or resolved.
